📌DEFINITION:
🔸Prasava Marma Abhyanga is a specialized postpartum Ayurvedic therapy involving gentle massage of marma points (vital energy centers) using medicated oils to restore strength, balance Vata dosha, and promote healing after childbirth.
🔸It rejuvenates the mother’s body, enhances lactation, relieves fatigue, and supports uterine involution.

🔸Sahacharadi Tailam

📌 PROCEDURE:
1. Preparation:
🔸Warm medicated oil is selected as per prakriti and condition.
🔸The mother is made to sit or lie comfortably in a warm, draft-free room.
2. Abhyanga (Massage):
🔸Gentle, rhythmic massage is performed over the whole body, with emphasis on marma points like Kati (lower back), Kukshi (abdomen), Uru (thighs), Greeva (neck), and Hasta/ Pada marmas.
🔸Duration: 30–45 minutes.
3. Swedana (Mild Fomentation):
🔸Followed by mild bashpa sweda (steam) to enhance absorption of the oil and relax muscles.
4. Post-Therapy Care:
🔸Rest is advised.
🔸Lukewarm bath with herbal decoction (e.g., Dashamoola kwatha).
🔸Light, nourishing diet (e.g., jeeraka–arishta or ksheerapaka).
📌 INDICATED DISEASES / CONDITIONS:
🔸Postnatal weakness
🔸Vata disorders after delivery (vata vriddhi)
🔸Back pain and joint stiffness
🔸Improper uterine involution
🔸Fatigue and body ache
🔸Insufficient lactation (stanya kshaya)
📌 MUST BE AVOIDED
🔸Immediately after delivery before complete sutika shuddhi
🔸Active infections or fever
🔸Open wounds, episiotomy not healed
🔸High blood pressure or heart diseases
🔸Severe anemia or postpartum hemorrhage
📌 PRECAUTIONS:
🔸Use mild pressure — avoid strong manipulation of marma points.
🔸Ensure oil is lukewarm and freshly prepared.
🔸Room should be warm, free from cold wind.
🔸Performed under supervision of an Ayurvedic physician.
🔸Avoid exertion or cold exposure post-therapy.
