    📌DEFINITION

    🔸Vajikaraṇam is one of the Aṣṭa Cikitsās (eight branches of Ayurveda).

    It deals with therapies, diet, and medicines that enhance sexual power, fertility, strength, and vitality, comparable to the virility of a horse ("Vāji").


    📌DRUGS USED

    🔸Kapikacchu (Mucuna pruriens)

    🔸Ashwagandha (Withania somnifera)

    🔸Shatavari (Asparagus racemosus)

    🔸Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris)

    🔸Atmagupta

    🔸Shilajatu

    🔸Musali (Safed Musli / Chlorophytum borivilianum)

    🔸Vidari (Pueraria tuberosa)

    🔸Bala

    🔸Yashtimadhu

    🔸Madhu (Honey)

    🔸Ghrita (Ghee)


    📌PROCEDURE

    1. Purification (Śodhana):

    🔸Shodhana therapies like Vamana, Virechana, Basti for preparing the body.

    2. Administration of Vajikarana drugs:

    🔸Powder, Lehya (lickable preparation), Ghrita, Rasayana formulations.

    3. Diet and regimen:

    🔸Milk, ghee, meat soup, nuts, aphrodisiac foods.

    🔸Proper sleep, avoiding stress, maintaining celibacy before therapy.

    4. Lifestyle measures:

    🔸Balanced routine, yoga, meditation, avoiding excess sexual indulgence.


    📌INDICATED DISEASES

    🔸Klaibya (Erectile dysfunction / impotence)

    🔸Shukra kshaya (Oligospermia, low semen quality)

    🔸Vandhyatva (Infertility)

    🔸Daurbalya (General debility)

    🔸Atiswapa (Excessive sleep, lethargy)

    🔸Manovikara (Certain psychological disorders related to sex)


    📌MUST BE AVOIDED IN

    🔸Children

    🔸Very old age

    🔸During acute illness (Jvara, Atisara, Ajeerna)

    🔸In individuals with uncontrolled diabetes, hypertension, or severe cardiac disorders

    🔸Pregnant women (Vajikarana drugs not indicated)


    📌PRECAUTIONS IN TREATMENT

    🔸Always perform Shodhana before Vajikarana therapy for better efficacy.

    🔸Dosage and drug selection must be individualized.

    🔸Avoid excessive sexual indulgence during therapy.

    🔸Maintain Pathya–Apathya (dietary rules).

    🔸Should be done under expert supervision to prevent side effects.
