    📌 DEFINITION:

    🔸Varnya Nasyam is a type of Nasya karma (nasal therapy) aimed at enhancing the complexion (varna prasadana), improving facial glow, and maintaining the health of facial skin through administration of medicated oils or juices through the nasal route.


    📌 DRUGS USED

    🔸Anu Taila

    🔸Kshirabala Taila

    🔸Kumkumadi Taila

    🔸Chandana Bala Lakshadi Taila

    🔸Yashtimadhu Taila

    🔸Triphala Ghrita

    🔸Shatadhauta Ghrita


    📌 PROCEDURE:

    1. Purva Karma (Preparation):

    🔸Gentle Abhyanga (oil massage) of face and neck.

    🔸Swedana (mild fomentation) over face.

    2. Pradhana Karma (Main Procedure):

    🔸Person sits in Nasya position (slightly reclined).

    🔸Lukewarm Varnya taila is instilled into each nostril (2–6 drops).

    🔸Gentle massage over forehead, cheeks, and neck.

    🔸Allow the patient to rest for a few minutes.

    3. Paschat Karma (Post-procedure):

    🔸Spitting out excess mucus or oil.

    🔸Avoid exposure to cold wind or direct sunlight immediately after.


    📌 INDICATED DISEASES

    🔸Vyanga (melasma)

    🔸Nilika (pigmentation)

    🔸Mukhadooshika (acne)

    🔸Twak Vaivarnya (uneven complexion)

    🔸Mukha Shosha (dryness of face)


    📌 MUST BE AVOIDED IN:

    🔸Cold, cough, rhinitis (Pratishyaya)

    🔸Fever (Jwara)

    🔸Sinusitis (Dushta pratishyaya)

    🔸Immediately after meals

    🔸During menstruation or pregnancy

    🔸After alcohol consumption or exhaustion


    📌 PRECAUTIONS IN TREATMENT

    🔸Use medicated oil at lukewarm temperature.

    🔸Avoid overdosage of oil (may cause kapha vriddhi).

    🔸Perform in morning or evening in moderate weather.

    🔸Avoid cold water, dust, and exposure to wind after procedure.

    🔸Perform under supervision of qualified Ayurvedic physician.
