📌DEFINITION
🔸Vamana is one of the Panchakarma therapies, in which controlled therapeutic emesis (induced vomiting) is performed to expel aggravated Kapha dosha and associated toxins from the upper gastrointestinal tract.

📌PROCEDURE
1. Purvakarma (Pre-operative measures):
🔸Snehana (internal & external oleation)
🔸Swedana (fomentation)
2. Pradhanakarma (Main procedure):
🔸Patient is given emesis-inducing drugs with suitable adjuvants.
🔸Repeated vomiting continues until proper signs of purification (Shuddhi Lakshana) are achieved.
3. Paschatkarma (Post-operative measures):
🔸Samsarjana Krama (gradual dietetic regimen starting from Manda, Peya, Vilepi to normal diet).

📌PRECAUTIONS IN TREATMENT
🔸Should be done only after proper snehana & swedana.
🔸Conducted under empty stomach in morning.
🔸Proper observation of Shuddhi Lakshanas (adequate vomiting signs).
🔸Avoid over-administration to prevent complications.
🔸Post-therapy diet regimen (Samsarjana Krama) must be followed strictly.
🔸Patient should be under rest and observation for few days.
