📌DEFINITION :
Kesha Abhyangam is the Ayurvedic procedure of massaging the scalp and hair roots with medicated oils to promote hair health, nourish the scalp, and prevent or treat hair and scalp-related disorders.
📌DRUGS USED :
🔸Neelibhringadi taila
🔸Bhringamalaka taila
🔸Triphala taila
🔸Brahmi taila
🔸Kanjunyadi taila
🔸Kayyanyadi taila
🔸Karpasasthyadi taila
📌PROCEDURE :
1. Preparation -
🔸The patient is made to sit comfortably in a chair.
🔸Medicated oil is slightly warmed.
2. Application -
🔸Oil is applied over the scalp and hair roots.
🔸Gentle massage is done with the fingertips in circular motions, covering the entire scalp.
3. Massage Techniques -
🔸Mild to moderate pressure is applied, avoiding scratches with nails.
🔸Massage is continued for 15–20 minutes.
4. Post-procedure -
🔸The head is covered with a soft towel for a short duration.
🔸Hair is washed after 30–60 minutes with lukewarm water and mild herbal shampoo/decoction.

📌MUST BE AVOIDED IN :
🔸Fever
🔸Common cold / sinusitis with severe congestion
🔸Recent scalp wounds or infections
🔸Severe dandruff with fungal infection
🔸Immediately after heavy meals or alcohol consumption
📌PRECAUTIONS :
🔸Oil should be lukewarm, not hot.
🔸Avoid exposure to cold wind immediately after the procedure.
🔸Do not leave oil for excessive durations if the scalp is oily.
🔸Ensure oil does not enter the eyes.
🔸Use appropriate medicated oil based on dosha predominance and condition.
