📌DEFINITION
🔸Gandūṣha is an Ayurvedic oral therapy where the mouth is completely filled with medicated liquid (oil, decoction, or other formulations) and held for a prescribed period without movement, until signs of proper action appear. It is one among the Mukhachikitsa and an important part of Dinacharya.

🔸Triphala kwatha
🔸Yashtimadhu kwatha
🔸Irimedadi taila
🔸Dantapala taila
🔸Dashamoola kwatha
🔸Saindhava lavana with water
📌PROCEDURE
1. Patient should sit comfortably in an upright posture.
2. Warm medicated liquid is prepared as per indication.
3. The mouth is completely filled with the liquid (without allowing movement inside).
4. Retain until mouth waters, eyes and nose start watering, or until unable to hold.
5. Spit out and rinse the mouth with warm water.
6. Repeat if prescribed.

📌MUST BE AVOIDED IN
🔸Ati-balaheenata (extreme weakness)
🔸Ati-tarshita (excessive thirst, dehydration)
🔸Ati-matta (intoxicated state)
🔸Ati-kshudha (extreme hunger)
🔸Ati-tripta (just after heavy meals)
🔸Chardi (vomiting tendency)
🔸Jwara (fever, acute stage)
🔸Bala, Vriddha, Garbhini (in debilitated, very old, and pregnancy unless prescribed carefully)
📌PRECAUTIONS
🔸Medicine should not be too hot or too cold.
🔸Avoid swallowing the liquid.
🔸Quantity should be sufficient to fill the mouth.
🔸Patient should be in comfortable sitting posture.
🔸Perform under empty stomach or light stomach.
🔸Stop once signs of Samyak Gandusha (salivation, watering of eyes/nose) appear.
