    🔺DEFINITION

    Mugha Prasādhana is a specialized Ayurvedic cosmetic therapy aimed at cleansing, nourishing, and beautifying the face. It involves external procedures with herbal formulations to improve skin health, enhance complexion, and prevent or manage facial disorders.


    🔺DRUGS USED 

    🔸Chandana

    🔸Usheera

    🔸Lodhra

    🔸Manjishta

    🔸Kumkuma

    🔸Haridra

    🔸Rakta chandanam

    🔸Jatamansi

    🔸Sariva

    🔸Yashtimadhu

    🔸Aloe vera


    🔺PROCEDURE

    1. Poorvakarma (Preparation):

    🔸Face cleansing with lukewarm water or herbal decoction.

    🔸Mild oil application (like Kumkumadi taila).


    2. Pradhanakarma (Main procedure):

    🔸Application of herbal paste / lepa / face pack.

    🔸Gentle massage with medicated oils or powders.

    🔸Swedana (mild steaming of face) if indicated.


    3. Paschatkarma (Post-procedure):

    🔸Washing with herbal decoction or lukewarm water.

    🔸Application of soothing herbal paste or oil.


    🔺INDICATED DISEASES 

    🔸Mukhadushika (Acne vulgaris)

    🔸Vyanga (Melasma)

    🔸Nilika (Dark circles, pigmentation)

    🔸Charmadala (Eczema)

    🔸Kshudra Kushta (Minor skin disorders)

    🔸Darunaka (Dandruff, if involving face/scalp)

    🔸Twak Vikaras (Skin disorders in general)

    🔸Must be Avoided In

    🔸Open wounds / ulcers on face

    🔸Severe infection or pus-filled lesions

    🔸Active herpes or contagious skin diseases

    🔸Hypersensitive skin / allergic reaction

    🔸Immediately after sunburn


    🔺PRECAUTIONS IN TREATMENT

    🔸Select drugs according to prakriti and dosha imbalance.

    🔸Avoid strong rubbing on sensitive skin.

    🔸Use lukewarm water only (not hot) for cleansing.

    🔸Ensure patient is not allergic to ingredients used.

    🔸Maintain hygiene of hands and materials.

    🔸Avoid exposure to dust/sun immediately after procedure.
