    📌DEFINITION

    🔸Sūtikā Paricharya refers to the specialized regimen of diet, lifestyle, and therapies prescribed for the mother after delivery (generally for 45 days or until the restoration of normal health). It focuses on regaining strength, proper involution of the uterus, restoration of agni (digestive fire), enhancing lactation, and preventing postpartum complications.

    🔸PROCEDURE

    1. Immediate care after delivery – administration of ghee, kanji, or light digestible foods.

    2. Abhyanga (oil massage) with medicated oils like Bala taila or Dhanwantaram taila.

    3. Swedana (mild fomentation) for relieving body stiffness.

    4. Pathya āhāra (dietary regimen):


    🔸Initial days: light, laghu, gruel (yavagu, kanji).

    🔸Gradually: milk, ghee, medicated soups.

    🔸Later: nourishing foods with herbs to promote strength and lactation.


    5. Internal medicines – decoctions, medicated ghee, powders for agni deepana, vata shamana, and stanya janana.

    6. Yoga and rest – gradual resumption of activities with emphasis on rest.
