📌DEFINITION
🔸Yoni Dhoopanam is an Ayurvedic procedure of fumigation (dhoopan) of the vaginal region (yoni) with medicated fumes for therapeutic and preventive purposes in Stree Roga (gynecological disorders).

📌PROCEDURE
1. Patient is made to sit in a squatting/semi-squatting position over a fumigation apparatus.
2. Dhoopana dravyas (powders/paste) are placed over burning charcoal in a closed vessel with an opening.
3. The medicated smoke is directed towards the vaginal area.
4. Duration: 10–15 minutes or as tolerated.
5. Done daily or on alternate days depending on disease condition.

🔸Yoni Srava (vaginal discharge / leucorrhoea)

📌MUST BE AVOIDED IN
🔸During pregnancy
🔸Active vaginal bleeding (menstruation/other causes)
🔸Ulcerated or open wound conditions in vaginal area
🔸Severe Pitta prakopa (excess burning, inflammation)
🔸Fever, debility, severe systemic illness
📌PRECAUTIONS IN TREATMENT
🔸Temperature of fumes should be tolerable (not cause burning).
🔸Avoid prolonged exposure.
🔸Use freshly prepared dhoopana dravyas.
🔸Ensure proper sitting posture for even exposure.
🔸Performed under supervision of an Ayurvedic physician.
🔸Not to be practiced during pregnancy or menstruation.
